Get you some hearty sourdoough, cut five or six 3/4" slices, and soften a stick of butter. Don't melt it all the way or it won't be spready! I put mine in the toaster oven for a few min until it still looks like a stick but some has started melting into a pool in the bottom of the dish. Maybe you have a microwave, try that but for like 10 sec at a time?
Take it out and mix it around, it should become the perfect soft creamy consistency! Now mix in 1-2 cloves of minced fresh garlic and a handful of fresh parsley (fresh sends this into gourmet territory!)
Spread it on your bread and bake it at 350 for 10 min. Check on it and decide if you want to bake it longer for crunchiness affect or even turn on the broiler, just make sure you watch it like a hawk so it doesn't burn!
